Staff from the Grand Forks and East Grand Forks Offices volunteered to help build TapeScape, the centerpiece exhibit of the third annual Full STEAM Ahead event in the Grand Forks Curling Club, hosted by the Grand Forks Children’s Museum. TapeScape is a system of tape tunnels, a hands-on play experience, and an immersive sculpture that showcases STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) educational principles. Envisioned and designed by Widseth’s marketing specialist Eric Lennartson, TapeScape is making its first appearance in the Grand Forks area. Previous installations were built in science centers, children’s museums, and art galleries around the world, including the Manitoba Children’s Museum and the Minnesota Science Museum.

Full STEAM Ahead is an annual pop-up, hands-on science museum event featuring educational opportunities for families. The event is also a fundraiser and community outreach project to get community support for the emerging Grand Forks Children’s Museum.

The event is open to local families from October 1st through the 8th, starting at 3:30 PM, while the daytime hours are reserved for private and school group visits.

The Grands Forks Chamber of Commerce will also host their Business After Hours event there on October 17th from 4:45 to 7:00 PM.

Besides contributing volunteer hours building the exhibit, Widseth is a financial sponsor of the event, helping to support and develop STEAM exhibits and experiences for greater Grand Forks area families.

Location: 1124 7th Avenue South, Grand Forks, North Dakota
