VIDEO: Essentia Health Orthopedic Center – Episode 2

video-essentia-health-orthopedic-center-episode-2

Construction continues to move forward on Essentia Health’s Orthopedic Center in Baxter, with major progress happening inside. As the facility evolves from a former big box store, Widseth’s mechanical engineering team is focused on bringing critical building systems to life.

One standout feature is the transformation of an existing warehouse area into a 5,000-square-foot mechanical room. This uncommon amount of space allows systems to be housed indoors rather than on the roof. This will improve accessibility for maintenance while supporting long-term performance and efficiency.

With a project of this scale, coordination across disciplines is key. Widseth’s team has utilized 3D modeling to design and visualize the mechanical systems, helping identify potential conflicts early and streamline construction. Watch the video below featuring Eric Jendro and Dylan Purdy to hear more about the progress made in the last few months.

Construction is ongoing, with upcoming milestones focused on installing and connecting major mechanical components, including the boiler system. As these systems come online, they will play a vital role in supporting a comfortable, high-performing environment for both patients and providers.

We’re proud to contribute to a project that not only reimagines an existing structure, but also strengthens access to specialized care in the surrounding community. Stay tuned for more updates as progress continues.
