The Brainerd Lakes Area is preparing to welcome one of Minnesota’s most celebrated hockey traditions as Hockey Day Minnesota comes to town in 2027.
This week-long celebration will bring together hockey fans of all ages through an unforgettable showcase of youth, high school, college, and professional hockey. More than just a series of games, Hockey Day Minnesota is an opportunity to celebrate the legacy of the sport, inspire the next generation of players, and create lasting connections throughout the community.
Widseth is proud to be part of the planning efforts for the 2027 event, which will be held at Brainerd International Raceway. Our team provided renderings, completed a survey of the site, and collaborated with Hockey Day Minnesota organizers and multiple contractors to help develop the overall event layout.

The event is expected to bring significant excitement and economic impact to the region while further establishing the Brainerd Lakes Area as a premier hockey destination in Minnesota. Although the official dates have not yet been announced, Hockey Day Minnesota is traditionally held during the third or fourth weekend in January, with final dates expected to be released in July.
Community members and regional partners will also have an opportunity to learn more about the event during an upcoming Business After Hours networking event hosted by Hockey Day Minnesota Brainerd and Brainerd International Raceway on May 19 from 4:30 to 6:00 PM at the iconic Wheelie Bar.
