A ribbon cutting was held on August 18 for the grand opening of the Farmers Union Processing + Meats facility in Staples, MN.

The project is designed to strengthen local and regional meat processing, helping connect area farmers with a nearby facility and bringing food production closer to the communities and customers it serves. The facility will also create local jobs and provide opportunities for students pursuing careers in meat processing.

Widseth was proud to support the project by providing architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering, as well as surveying services. The facility presented a unique design challenge, bringing together a mobile harvest unit and modular processing pods into one functional facility.

Watch the video to hear more from Widseth Architectural Project Manager Nate Thiesse about the project, our role in its design and what makes this facility unique.

We’re proud to play a part in a project that supports local farmers, jobs, and the future of agriculture in the region.
