No two projects or clients are exactly alike, and that variety is one of the things Dana enjoys most about his work. From athletic facilities and historic renovations to offices and commercial spaces, each project brings a different challenge and a new opportunity to find the right solution.
For Dana, client participation is a pivotal part of the design process. Rather than simply designing a building and presenting the finished idea, he focuses on educating clients, keeping communication open, and giving them options to consider along the way. Their input helps create something that truly feels like their own.
That collaborative approach is also a source of inspiration. Dana values clients who bring ideas to the table, and he enjoys working through those possibilities together. To him, one of the greatest signs of a successful project is when a client returns and asks Widseth to work with them again.
But the real reward comes after the drawings are finished and construction is complete. It’s going back and seeing a building full, a softball field in use, or a stadium packed with people. Seeing a space become part of the community and knowing people are using and enjoying it is what brings Dana joy as an architect.
