Building Connections Through Our Summer Intern Program

building-connections-through-our-summer-intern-program

Over the years, Widseth’s internship program has welcomed hundreds of college and technical school students who have come to gain real-life experience in their fields. This summer we welcomed 25 new and returning interns across nine disciplines, bringing the total of our summer staff to more than 300. Of our interns, nine were in civil engineering, four in architecture, one in landscape architecture, three in land surveying, three in mechanical engineering, two in electrical engineering, one in aerial mapping, one in marketing, and one in information technology.

We recently held our second annual Intern Celebration Day where our interns get together to share their experiences at Widseth before they head back to school. The event allows them to relate to one another while also recognizing the differences in how they spent their summers. And it gives their supervisors and mentors and the firm’s leaders an opportunity to recognize their contributions to our practice, celebrate their professional growth, and hear what they’ve learned through their individual experiences. In a firm with 13 office locations and hundreds of employees, this is an ideal event to cross borders and form connections.

Widseth values community and prioritizes creating a space for our interns to bond with their peers while gaining valuable professional experience in their fields. From fieldwork and engineering projects to architecture, surveying, aerial mapping, marketing, and office jobs, our internship program gives post-secondary students an opportunity to explore their careers, apply what they’ve learned in school, and gain valuable real-world experience.

Our Intern Celebration Day is a fun tradition we look forward to continuing for years to come!
