Happy First Day of Spring & National Surveyors Week

As winter loosens its grip and the ground begins to thaw, we’re reminded of a line from Henry David Thoreau—writer, naturalist, and land surveyor:

“The earth is not a mere fragment of dead history… but living poetry; and the sun is but a morning star.”

Each spring, the landscape transforms—ice recedes, water finds new paths, and the land reveals itself again. It’s a season of renewal, discovery, and fresh perspective.

It’s also a fitting time to celebrate National Surveyors Week.

Like Thoreau, surveyors see the land with both precision and appreciation—observing, measuring, and helping communities understand the world beneath their feet. Their work lays the foundation for everything that follows, from infrastructure to development to conservation.

This week, we recognize the vital role our surveying team plays in shaping the places we live, work, and explore.

Happy first day of spring—and Happy National Surveyors Week.
