It’s important for kids and adults to get outside and play on a regular basis. Playing outside promotes an active lifestyle, helps develop social skills, boosts creativity, fuels imagination, and builds problem-solving skills. The Northland Arboretum in Baxter is currently building a Nature Playscape that will include many outdoor opportunities for the community.
Widseth’s landscape architecture team worked with arboretum staff to develop a concept to guide the direction of the project, which includes a variety of unique features such as a wicker tunnel, water sluice, berm slide, and climbing logs. The concept below illustrates all the proposed amenities of the Nature Playscape.
Watch the video below, produced by Lakeland PBS, to hear from Northland Arboretum Executive Director Trevor Pumnea as he describes the need and vision for the Nature Playscape project.
Project completion is anticipated for this fall. If you’re in the Brainerd Lakes Area be sure to stop by, unplug, and let your imagination run wild as you explore the new Nature Playscape!
