Excitement filled the air today in Baxter as community members, local officials, and project partners gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of the WonderTrek Children’s Museum. The event marks a major milestone for the long-anticipated museum, which will provide a dynamic space for children and families to learn, play, and explore together.
Widseth is proud to be part of Phase 1 of the WonderTrek project. Our team is providing civil engineering for the Jasperwood Drive Road extension that will provide access to the site, the parking lot, and a stormwater pond, as well as mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering for the Adventure Outfitters Studio—the first building to be constructed. Our land surveying team is also playing a key role in helping establish the layout for this 9-acre campus.
The Adventure Outfitters Studio is being designed by Nor-Son, who is also serving as the project’s construction manager. The studio building will serve as an indoor/outdoor programming hub, while also allowing visitors to check out tools and gear for their outdoor adventures.
WonderTrek’s mission to create hands-on, self-directed learning opportunities aligns closely with Widseth’s commitment to designing spaces that support community growth and engagement. With strong regional support and a shared vision for the future, WonderTrek is set to become a vital resource for central Minnesota families. Widseth is honored to help bring this vision to life—starting with the essential infrastructure that lays the groundwork for learning, play, and discovery.
