Construction is well underway on Essentia Health’s new Orthopedic Center in Baxter, MN, and exciting progress is already taking shape. The 60,000-square-foot facility is transforming the long-vacant former Camping World building into a modern, patient-centered destination for orthopedic and musculoskeletal care.
This adaptive reuse project is a collaborative design-build effort between Essentia Health, Widseth, and Hy-Tec Construction. By reimagining the wide-open structure of the existing building, the project team has been able to create a flexible, efficient layout that brings multiple departments together under one roof. A key design priority has been introducing natural light deep into the building, creating a welcoming environment for both patients and staff.
With its central Baxter location, the new center will offer convenient access for the community while improving how patients move through the space—from entry to appointment and beyond. Construction began in August 2025, and work is progressing well as interior framing and structural elements take shape.
