Everybody likes moving into a new building. There’s no clutter, fresh air is pumping through a new mechanical system, and the carpet doesn’t have any stains, yet. But, what happens to the old buildings and spaces left behind? In some cases, buildings reach the end of their serviceable life and must be torn down. However, if they can be reused, there is often considerable cost savings instead of building new.

Le Sueur County recently faced this scenario and needed help figuring out what to do. A new Justice Center was built several years ago and multiple departments moved into the facility, leaving vacancies in the Government Center and old jail. Watch the video below to learn how Widseth helped the county repurpose these buildings and maximize unused spaces.
