When third-generation owner Chris Adatte set out to reimagine A.G. O’Brien Plumbing & Heating’s headquarters in Hermantown, MN, he had more than aesthetics in mind—he wanted to create a space that reflects the company’s evolving identity, supports its employees, and energizes its future.

Widseth partnered with A.G. O’Brien to provide architecture, mechanical and electrical engineering, and interior design services for the 3,000-square-foot renovation. The result is a bold, modern workspace that blends function with personality—and yes, just a hint of James Bond villain flair. (That was Chris’s actual design direction to Widseth interior designer Janell Hirschoff.)

The remodel brought thoughtful improvements to how the company works and connects. Previously, shop employees and office staff were physically divided—eating lunch in different areas of the building. Now, everyone comes together in a shared breakroom designed to encourage interaction. Even the office dogs weren’t overlooked: custom cabinetry includes space for dog bowls beneath the counter, complete with a built-in faucet to fill them.

In the spirit of fun and recognition, a “sales gong” now hangs in the office—ready to be struck whenever an employee secures a project worth $15,000 or more. It’s a small but powerful addition that keeps momentum and morale high.
