Apply For an Energy Improvement Grant For Your K-12 Public School

The U.S. Department of Energy has grants available for K-12 public schools to be used for facility upgrades that will lower energy costs and foster healthier learning environments.

Schools can start the application process now for the first round of Renew America’s Schools Grant to make energy improvements.

Schools can apply for one of two topic areas:

1. High Impact Energy Efficiency and Health Improvements

Improvements that result in energy cost reduction, increased efficiency, and lead to improvements in health.

2. Innovative Energy Technology Packages

Packages must include two or more of the following:

  • Energy efficiency measures
  • Renewable energy technologies
  • Alternative fueled vehicles and infrastructure

Cost share must be at least 5% for the commercial application projects.

Deadlines are as follows:

  • Concept paper deadline’January 26, 2023
  • Full application deadline’April 21, 2023
  • Expected date of award notification’June 16, 2023
