After nearly 10 years of dreaming, planning, fundraising, and community collaboration, WonderTrek’s Outdoor Adventure campus officially opened in Baxter with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 5. The celebration marked a major milestone for families throughout the Brainerd Lakes Area and beyond, bringing a one-of-a-kind outdoor learning and play destination to central Minnesota.
Guests gathered at the new campus to celebrate the opening of the Adventure Outfitters Studio, explore trails woven through the natural landscape, and experience the many outdoor exhibits and nature-based play opportunities designed to inspire curiosity, exploration, and discovery. What began as a vision more than a decade ago has grown into a transformational community asset.
Today, the campus creates opportunities for children and families to connect with nature through hands-on experiences across forests and water features. At the heart of the campus is the 2,500-square-foot Adventure Outfitters Studio, which serves as the starting point for exploration. From there, visitors can venture to destinations including a mud kitchen, nature play features, climbing and rigging experiences, water-based exploration areas, and interactive outdoor exhibits designed to encourage creativity and learning through play.

Widseth provided land surveying and civil engineering services on the WonderTrek project. Our team designed critical site infrastructure, including the roadway leading into the campus, the parking lot, sidewalks, and a stormwater pond.
Projects like WonderTrek demonstrate the power of a community working together around a shared vision. What started as an idea nearly a decade ago is now a vibrant destination where children can learn, explore, and create lasting memories outdoors. Widseth is honored to have played a role in helping bring this exciting community asset to life and we look forward to seeing generations of families enjoy the experience for years to come.
