There is a significant childcare shortage in communities across the country, forcing many parents to decide between work and caring for their children. Widseth is working with clients in various communities to design daycare facilities that offer the space needed for children to learn and grow.
The Brainerd Family YMCA partnered with Widseth to design a new YMCA Child Care Center. The renovated building includes three infant rooms with 24 spots and three toddler rooms with 42 spots. The facility also features motor skills areas, innovative play and craft spaces, and developmentally appropriate design and safety features. Check out this short video with YMCA CEO, Shane Riffle, detailing the benefits of the new YMCA Child Care Center.
Widseth designed Nurture Childcare Center in Byron, MN, which opened in March to help address the childcare shortage in Olmsted County. The center can accommodate more than one hundred children from six weeks to twelve years old. Widseth designed the facility to cater to each child’s specific needs and create a home-like environment.
The daycare features an indoor playroom accessed via interactive stairs, a reading platform, and slide, offering an engaging experience for children of all ages. The main floor also includes essential staff facilities such as a conference room, office, and commercial kitchen.
Widseth has assisted numerous communities tackle issues related to childcare facilities across Minnesota and North Dakota.
