Every year on April 22, people around the world celebrate Earth Day—a reminder that we all share the responsibility of protecting the environment. At Widseth, this responsibility is built into the core of what we do.

Our environmental professionals work across Minnesota and throughout the Midwest to help communities, businesses, and government agencies stay compliant, protect natural resources, and support responsible development. Whether we’re assessing a site for potential contaminants or helping to preserve valuable wetlands, our work has a lasting impact on the health of the land, water, and air we all depend on.

Environmental Services That Make a Difference

Widseth’s Environmental team provides a wide range of services designed to safeguard public health and minimize environmental impacts. These services include:

  • Hazardous Materials Testing – We help identify asbestos, lead, and other hazardous materials in buildings, on bridges, and in soils so they can be safely managed or removed.

  • Contaminated Soils Remediation – Our team develops cleanup strategies to restore contaminated sites and make them safe for reuse or redevelopment.

  • Landfill Sampling & Permitting – We assist with monitoring and permitting requirements to ensure landfill operations meet environmental standards.

  • Environmental Report Writing – We provide the technical insight needed for informed decision-making. Federal environmental reviews include: Categorical Exclusions (CATEX), Environmental Assessments (EA), and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS). State environmental reviews include: Environmental Assessment Worksheets (EAW), Environmental Information Worksheets (EIW), and Alternative Urban Areawide Reviews (AUAR).

  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) – Widseth develops site-specific SWPPPs to minimize sediment and pollutant runoff during construction projects.

  • Wetland Delineations & Permitting – We help identify and protect wetlands by providing delineations, coordinating with regulatory agencies, and securing necessary permits.

  • Environmental Site Assessments – Our team performs thorough evaluations of current and historical site conditions to support property transactions and redevelopment planning. We can help you with Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Limited Site Investigations (LSI), Remedial Investigations (RI), and Corrective Action Plans.

  • Cultural Resources – Our archaeology team brings deep experience in cultural resource management, site assessments, and historic preservation. We’ll help ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, particularly on projects involving land development, infrastructure, and public funding.

Working Toward a More Sustainable Future

Widseth’s environmental work is driven by science, guided by regulations, and motivated by a deep commitment to sustainability. We collaborate with clients across multiple markets—from municipalities and landfills to private developers and energy providers—to ensure their projects meet environmental requirements and support the long-term health of their communities.

As we celebrate Earth Day, we’re proud to play a part in building a cleaner, safer, and more resilient future. Protecting the environment isn’t just a once-a-year effort—it’s part of every project we take on, every plan we develop, and every solution we deliver.
